Andy was born in Paisley, Scotland, into a musically rich environment. His mother was a choral singer with the Scottish National Orchestra, frequently filling their home with opera and classical music. In contrast, his stepdad preferred country tunes. In a rebellious spirit, Andy gravitated towards rock and jazz, immersing himself in the sounds of James Gang, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, ELP, and Miles Davis before the age of 10.
Andy experimented with various instruments, drumming, playing bass, and keyboards before ultimately returning to his first love, the drums. Equally comfortable on a drum kit and specializing in Latin percussion, he has a particular expertise with the cajon. Over his career, he has had the privilege of collaborating with notable musicians such as Richard Vahrman, Paul Diello, Tim Sanpher, and Louise Eatock of Flaming June.
His performances have graced several renowned venues, including Hootenanny in Brixton, The Finsbury, Strawberry Fair, and Beautiful Days. Despite a humorous acknowledgement of his luck—”If it weren’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have no luck at all”—Andy’s dedication and passion for music have undeniably carved out a significant place for him in the industry.
