Concorde was not built for everyone. It was built to prove that a passenger jet could cruise at twice the speed of sound and live to tell the tale. The service was scarce, loud, and costly, yet it reframed what “fast” felt like. That is a UX pattern: an extreme version shifts expectations for the rest of the field.
When one product shows the limit, every other product is measured against it.
🎯 Theme: Trade-offs
Supersonic meant sonic booms, narrow routes, and heavy fuel burn. The cabin was tight, the tickets rare, but the promise was concrete: New York felt nearer. Good design states its bargain plainly. Show the gain, show the loss, let people decide.
